We are always looking for volunteers to help with different aspects of the ministry. Do you have a particular skill/ability that you can offer? (social media, newsletters, coordinating school scholarships, donor relations, etc...) When Haiti opens once again and visitors can travel, we will be opening up our short-term teams so people/groups can come to serve alongside our ministry. In the meantime though, we LOVE when people offer workshops/training online for our community, students and/or staff.
We have our Haitian missionary staff listed on our ABOUT page. You can go there to read about them individually, but essentially they are the bones of the organization. Each is supported through donations and, though maybe not as glamorous as offering a school scholarship for a particular child, giving to feed a family, or paying someone's medical bills, our organization depends GREATLY on our staff to execute all ministry we do. Without staff we simply can't operate. Budget for this need is $ 2,450/month collectively. This includes 5 full-time employees and our security dogs (vet care & food). This is currently funded through grants or funds from "greatest needs" donations. We would LOVE to know that all our missionaries are fully supported. Contact us with questions.
In Haiti parents must pay privately for school (tuition, uniform, books, socks/shoes, backpack, lunchbox, exam fees, etc...). Many struggle to do so, therefore we offer school scholarships based upon need to help those children get an education. Once a student is identified, our staff meets with them and their parent/guardian to sign a clear contract. Each party has a role and the scholarship is not guaranteed.to be continued or renewed the following year. Honestly, we can offer as many scholarships as we have funding for so the number varies, BUT, we always have more students than scholarships! We suggest a donation of $35/month- $50/month for these. We use those funds collectively to pay schools and parents directly. (require receipts, report cards, etc...) There is a staff member whose job is to monitor progress in school, attendance, secure tutoring if needed, etc.... We believe that knowledge is something no one can ever take away.
We are in the process of securing a piece of land upon which we hope to construct a building we can use as a permanent location for our ministry. From that location we will not only immerse ourselves in community development, but our ultimate goal is to use our guest quarters as a training ground for other groups to come & learn how to begin and operate a community center. Then, they will be encouraged to replicate and expand upon what we have taught them in their own community. This will benefit so many across the entire country of Haiti. But, we need funds to make this happen. We will need to complete paperwork for the land, do improvements to the property (ie: install a security wall), build a training & community center, construct guest quarters, etc....
It takes financial support to run our community center (teachers, supplies, rent on the building, copies, food, etc...) as well as outreach events (movie night, feeding refugees, seminars, etc....) We would love to talk to you about specific ways you can designate your donation or specific projects you can help generate support for.
We also need general operating expenses such as gas for our vehicles, water to maintain batteries on the solar energy system, office supplies, etc.... Our overall budget is as follows.:
Staff salaries/
Missionary support- $ 2,450
Training & Discipleship
Center- (general) $ 150
(classes/teachers) $ 600
(food served) $ 1,450
Family Preservation/
School scholarships $ 980
Vehicle/Maintenance $ 210
Operating expenses
(rent, gas, taxes,...) $ 1,660
TOTAL: $ 7,500/mo.*
-as of November 2024
(*without the remote school in Bas-Citronniers which is privately funded)
